Hello. I’m really pleased to be part of The Monthly Stitch Collective.
Like others I was excited to see the first challenge was a cape. It was one of those things that had been on my ‘to make’ list for a long time. My cape is now finished and within the time frame too. Hooray.
I found the pattern in a pile of old patterns in the back of a sewing shop in Carterton. The front envelope was missing, just the instruction sheet and pattern pieces were present. So no information about the brand or year, although the pattern pictures look like they are from the 60s or early 70s?. The outer fabric is 100% wool. I decided to add a lining, which is some sort of polyester sateen type material. Both purchased from Spotlight.
I’m really happy with how it turned out. Now the challenge is to see how much wear I get out of it.
More pics on my blog.

This is such a classic cape! Love that length, and I’ll bet you get tons of wear from it!

What a fabulous find the pattern was. Great cape, very practical – who needs a handbag – jeans have pockets!

Thanks, I hope it will be practical. I think this will be the subject of a blog post once I have had a chance to try it out.
