Frocktober seemed like such an easy way to start the Monthly Stitch habit. My sewing focus at the moment is using patterns from Independent Designers.
I wanted a simple, elegant, comfortable, wearable black dress that was easy to dress up or down with accessories. Red Velvet from Cake patterns was the perfect choice.
The fabric is a lightweight black Merino knit that drapes beautifully and is luxurious to wear.
I met Steph C at the Brisbane Stiches and craft fair last weekend and regret not having taken a photo of us wearing our cake together.

Classic! I might have to grab some merino since it is currently on sale and stash it up for next winter along with this pattern. You’ll get heaps of wear out of this. Classic and classy!

A great dress that looks great on you and will go anywhere. I am sure you will wear often. It inspires me to work on some more casual knit dresses for myself.

Yours is the first new Cake pattern I’ve seen sewn up, it looks so comfy but very classic. I am really getting into my Indie pattern designers right now too, just really enjoying the excellent drafts and extra love put into the instructions and packaging 😉
