Sparkly Top!

I’m a big fan of group sew alongs and themed sewing where fellow sewers from around the world come together to share, and learn from each other. Over the last couple of months, I’ve been following and contributing here at the Monthly Stitch, which is a fantastic gathering  of sewers who post and share their creations according to a given theme. I have been super busy with alterations and custom sewing projects, but I finally found a morning to put together this top designed by Lekala Patterns. This is my Tis the Season to Party top!

Blouson With Decorative Back Sewing Pattern #4284

If you haven’t been to their website, it’s worth checking out. Their downloadable patterns are between free and 3 dollars and they have quite a variety!

I chose to make mine out of one fabric and not two.  My fabric was purchased in  Sebastopol at The Legacy, a fabric, yarn, and notion store. Almost everything is donated and resold with the proceeds going to their local Senior Center. They sell their fabric by the pound and twice a month everything is half off! Sew, Sew much fun!

The neatest thing about it though, is that you put in your measurements and they send it to you in your unique size. The worst thing about it, are the poorly translated directions. They need someone, like you or me, to translate the Russian into common sewing terminology. I wouldn’t recommend the instructions to anyone with little experience in sewing. I’ve been sewing for almost 50 years and their directions can still throw me for a loop, every now and then. Over the last year or so, I’ve seen many improvements. I love the idea of patterns made to fit. See more Pics on my blog Zibergirl.com

  1. I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying sewing along with us – You’ve added so many great contributions, thanks for making it awesome! xx Your sparkly top is great, festive but not over the top, and the bow is so sweet.

  2. Wow! Fantastic finds – great ideas – what a place to shop!!! And the blouse looks great, too! Seriously, appreciate knowing about these new places, and feel as you do about people coming together from all over the globe.
Hope you have a lovely Holiday and enjoy wearing this top throughout the New Year!
