Sadly this year no parties were on my radar but a girl can always accept an excuse to make a party dress. Currently my party dress is only to wear to work but if I jazz it up with costume jewelry I could wear it to dance the night away.
The pattern is Vogue 1102 and it is a lovely pattern to sew (it was very easy). The circle skirted dress is intended to be below mid-knee it has close-fitting, self-lined, sleeveless bodice with a raised front waistline there are back tie ends across the upper back to hold bodice in place in a lovely bow. My fabric is a solid black crepe suiting. The fabric worked very well for the unlined skirt; the bodice is lined in self fabric.
As it turns out the bow back is very hard to tie by oneself. When I get to wear it to an actual party I will be sure to have someone else tie the bow so it is not at an jaunty angle. The bow tie ends were finished with narrow hems. However I think it would be fun to line the bow ties in a contrasting color for a pop of fun, next time.
I love the winter styling of this dress and the bow is super cute – in a contrast colour would add a nice pop but all black is so versatile too.
