Great Photo. I just took a Craftsy Photo class to improve my skills. Are there any online tutorials that you recommend? Did you use a tripod and a remote or timer?
My DH has the photography brain & he suggests http://strobist.blogspot.com.au/2006/03/lighting-101.html?m=1 for really good clear (& free) tutorials. The actual pic was taken by him rather than a tripod & remote. We used a speed light & silver umbrella on the camera’s left to flash from that direction, an “off camera flash”. The fast shutter speed (1/1000 at F2) blocks most of the ambient light giving the stormy look to the clouds and the flash lights the subject almost entirely. It’s such an awesome effect! 馃槈
