Sandra & Me

This is my version of Sandra Betzina’s Vogue 1297 dress.  I did view B without the pockets.  The pockets added way too much bulk to the hip area.   I had stitched them in, then stitched them out!

The fabric is a ponte knit I purchased recently and it worked very well for this pattern.  It says to use any knit, but I think a jersey would be too springy and would stretch out over time given the weight at the bottom of this dress.

It looks like it’s more complicated than it is – it was very simple to sew.  The only difficulty was the Y seam where you join the giant pocket-less pieces at the waist.  For more details, see my blog post here.

I must confess, this was not the winner of the Miss Bossy Patterns, but I needed to create something simple since my mother has moved in with us and so I hope I’m forgiven!  I have pulled out the Issey Jacket pattern and have started it – the winner of the pattern voting.  Mom is looking forward to seeing the Issey jacket too!

Happy Creating everyone!

  1. Very nice. We will see your jacket when you finish it at your own pace. Glad you surprised us with something else.
