Your Style Rocks Eva Dress

Sewing with Knits: Eva Dress

This months Monthly Stitch Challenge is another convenient one for me. As a part of my Me-Made-May goal I pledged to sew some knit basics and I just happened to buy an overlocker at the end of April. It was destined to be! I chose to make the Your Style Rocks Free Eva Dress Pattern for my monthly Sew Cheap Series. The dress has kimono sleeves, a gathered waist panel, a back pleat and a flared skirt. I made a size 10 in a medium weight soft cotton, poly, rayon blend ( I think?).

The dress came together pretty easily but the instructions were brief and more confusing than necessary. I took the dress up about 7″ and in a further 3/8″. Even so, I find the dress a little long and a little loose. Eva makes me feel frumpy and not myself.

But, I do think she looks better when layered up with a cardy and scarf.  Im yet to decide on whether Eva will stay a dress or be cut up, parts salvaged, for a different make. Hopefully my next knit make will be more successful.

    • Agree, it is too plain to wear alone, plus I think the back needs to be covered. I’ve decided I’ll give it a chance this winter and refashion it next year if its still not pleasing me.

  1. Sorry this project hasn’t ticked the right boxes for you, but good to hear that something else may come out of it! I’ve really been enjoying your Sew Cheap series, it’s a great resource for free patterns I hadn’t come across before 🙂

  2. What a shame you’re unhappy with it because it looks lovely, but I understand what you mean about not feeling comfortable. Sometimes you just have to move on and up! X
