Loganberry Coppelia

Squeezing in right before the end of Sew Stretchy month! (Although I figure it also counts for Indie Pattern Month too. 😉 )

The Coppelia cardi from Papercut has been appearing on here a bit lately, with some super cute versions like Elizabeth’s pink merino one. I totally understand why – it’s a fantastic pattern. Quick and easy to make, and very easy to wear. (I may have made a couple of them already – they are on high rotation in my wardrobe!)

The other day, I was thinking about wrap dresses, and realising that’s something you don’t tend to see in indie patterns. And then I thought to myself – what about the Coppelia? Could it be lengthened into a wrap dress?

So, I tried it.

And yes, it can indeed become a dress. Quite easily, in fact.

I made the ties longer than usual, so they can wrap around both front and back to give a bit of definition.

Added bonus – it’s nice and comfy to wear with a baby bump. 😉

I’m going to be putting a tutorial on how to lengthen the Coppelia up on my blog sometime in the next few days. In the meantime, there are some more photos and a few more details over in this post if you’re curious.

It’s nearly time for Indie Pattern Month to start! Yay!! 😀

  1. Love your dress! I have this pattern and recently made the crop version and was not too happy with it. I thought to retire the pattern completely and here you are inspiring me this morning! Thanks so much!

    • Oh, definitely try it! (If you do make a dress, I recommend going down one size, as the cardigan has more ease as it’s designed to be worn over things.)

    • Thank you! 🙂 (The colour was a bit of a happy accident – I originally had another fabric planned for this, but turned out to not have enough!)

  2. Oh my goodness, I was just thinking about making a Coppelia dress last week. I even started cutting one out but realised I didn’t have quite enough fabric. Great minds, huh?
It looks fantastic! I love the colour.
