Hi all,
You might have noticed with my last couple of posts that knits seem to have become my sewing life. It’s KNITPALOOZAH! Who knew knits were so yummy? I certainly didn’t, plus I’m learning so much. I’m also all about Colette Patterns too. These are a few of my favorite things (in my Julie Andrews voice).
Knit pattern Moneta is my latest dress. It’s a versatile and comfortable dress with many style options and collar variations thanks to the free pattern download (collar only) on the Colette website. I didn’t bother with any. I will at some point.
The size ranges from an XS-3XL. I cut a large and that worked for me. I wanted it a little longer so I added five inches to the dress. I might raise the hemline a smidge next time, but I like the length. I also went with the short sleeves. I purchased a poly knit from JoAnn’s. I might as well be wearing pj’s, that how soft and comfortable it is.
I was introduced to two new concepts, twin needles and clear elastic. Honestly I’ve been avoiding both like the plague. The pattern instructions were very clear. I did struggle with the pockets and the elastic, but I don’t blame anyone. It’s a me thing. If this is your first time working with elastic please go slow and use a fresh ball point or stretch needle. It’s very doable, just be patient with yourself. I also made this in a deep purple.
As always you can see more here.
Thanks
