Let’s make cake! Plenty to celebrate! Of course The Monthly Stitch are having their birthday celebration but also this month my darling son turns 3 on the 15th! I am so proud of how far he has come after many close calls he really is my miracle baby and this is a big milestone for us!
So for this month’s challenge and my first contribution I decided to take “cake” very literally. Instead of making a dress with “frosting” or such I decided to try and replicate a layered cake with frosting for my sewing machine cover. I’ve been meaning to make one for a while as the plastic one just annoys me.
I have written in detail about how I made it over here on my blog. I wanted there to be colourful layers and delicate frosting. I used only items from my stash which were all off-cuts and a doily for the top. As you can tell these are all tie-dye pieces and wonderfully bright!
This looks bright and cheery in my sewing room and especially on my white desk where it lives. I love how it turned out!
I would have loved to take a picture of a cake or cupcake I made and share a recipe but unfortunately my oven has stopped working and I can’t bake anything at the moment. This will just have to do this time.
Thank you for allowing me to be an author on your marvelous blog and I look forward to many more posts in the future!
