Guess what everyone? It’s October!
And you know what that means?
It’s time for FROCKTOBER here on The Monthly Stitch!!!
(Ok, I admit it – this is one of my favourite challenges. I love dresses – both making ‘em and wearing ‘em. So it’s always nice to have an excuse to add more to my wardrobe. 😉
Frocktober is all about celebrating dresses – all sorts of dresses! Casual, formal, summer, winter, simple or elaborate. Made from knits or wovens. Using modern, indie or vintage patterns (or even self-drafted patterns, perhaps?). Dresses, dresses, and more dresses!
Want to join us for Frocktober? It’s easy – just make a dress (or two, or three), and post about it! Any dress will do – the choice is yours. 😉
Not sure what to make? We’ll be putting up a daily inspiration pattern on the Monthly Stitch Facebook group, just for fun. We’ll also have a giveaway or two during the month for some new indie dress patterns, so keep an eye out for those.
Feel like an additional challenge? Well, you’ve come to the right place! We’ve worked with four indie designers to feature four different dress patterns during Frocktober 2014. Each week, we’ll be featuring one of those patterns, along with a sew-with-us series, an interview with the designer, and a sewing contest (with prizes, yay!).
We thought long and hard about which dresses to feature during Frocktober, and we hope you like the selection as much as we do – different difficulty levels, styles, and seasons are all there for you to choose from. The featured dresses are the Lonsdale from Sewaholic, Dakota from Named, Giselle from Kate & Rose, and Reglisse from Deer & Doe.
Keep an eye on The Monthly Stitch tomorrow as we’ll be putting up the full schedule for Frocktober so if you’re keen to join in the sew-with-us series or take part in a sewing contest, you’ll find all the details in one place.
Alright Monthly Stitcher’s – lets get this Frocktober party started!
