It’s day three of the Sew with Us Sewaholic Lonsdale series 🙂
Yesterday we completed our bodice and today we are going to turn it our the right way and make a start on the skirt.
Remember, if you have any questions feel free to ask in the comments below and for a more technical run through you can also jump over to the Lonsdale Sew Along on the Sewaholic website.
Here we go!
This is the fun bit: Turning!
Let me introduce to my little friend, Mr Hemostat.
Mr Hemostat is a surgical instrument but I bought this particular one a fishing website, Men-Who-Fish use them to make lures but they also have a Secret Sewing Super Power. They are excellent for turning fabric! Allow me to demonstrate:
In this case I stuck them inside the partially turned tie to grab the end and put it through, like so…
…and pull!
You can also use the blunt end for poking out the corners from the inside and they are excellent for stuffing small soft toys.
Step 4: Now we understitch.
Steps 5 & 6: I’ve pinned my waist waistband in place, ready to be stitched.
Step 7: Both waistbands attached and overlocked, ready to press.
Step 9: Understitching.
Step 10: Getting closer to being real pockets…
Ohh yeah, go on, test it with your hand, I did!
We’re done for the day and getting closer to to the end! 🙂 Tomorrow we stitch the long skirt seams and attach the bodice.
Remember to post your progress over on the Facebook group page.
See you soon! xx
