Hi, it’s always great when my sewing plans fit into the monthly theme here 🙂 I took a frank look at my sewing ‘area’ (I dream of having a whole room, sigh…) in our spare room a while back and was forced to admit that it needed some clearing out, so I’ve been on a ‘stash-diet’ ever since. While it’s not as much fun as purposefully matching fabric purchases to patterns, it’s thrown up a number of useful items, that otherwise might never have been.
Like many others in the sewing world, I’ve been slowly working my way through Tilly and the Button’s ‘Love at First Stitch’, every pattern of which, so far, has proved a winner 🙂 For Frocktober I’ve managed to run up two versions of Tilly’s Megan Dress. The first of which used up a chunk of grey and white striped, knit fabric left over from a Coco top (another of Tilly’s patterns).
This is turned out a little on the loose side, but is perfect for lounging around at home. For my second attempt at this pattern, I took a deep breath and sized down by not just one, but two sizes. I was a bit nervous, but it worked out just perfectly. This is a version I can wear out and about 🙂
Again, it’s a fabric that’s been languishing around in my drawers for far too long. It’s only recently that I’ve been brave enough to venture into knits, but I’m now so glad I did.
If you’d like further details of either of these two makes then head on over to my blog- navybluethreads.wordpress.com
Thanks for reading, and for loads of inspiration for future dress projects. I’ve loved following along this month,
Teresa

Thank you! It was a bit of a risk sizing down so much second time around, but I’m glad I did. It feels great on 🙂

Thank you! I really like it and will definitely use it again. I’d size down though if you’re using a knit fabric.

These look great, well done! I have consequently added Tilly’s book to my Amazon Christmas Wishlist 🙂 Did you find the knits online or in shops?

Thank you! I’d highly recommend Tilly’s book, I’ve loved every pattern so far. I purchased the two knits from my local fabric warehouse in the North West of England:Leon’s of Chorlton.
