For this month’s outerwear challenge, I made a cape!
The pattern is Simplicity 0311. I have never made a cape before, but I was inspired to make one after seeing them all over pinterest. The pattern allows you to also make a vest, a hat, a bag, and a hood. The pattern itself was really easy. The only difficulty I ran into was sewing the buttonholes, but I had never made buttonholes prior to this project. The cape itself could easily be put together in one day. I made size XS because I did not want to be drowning in fabric.
The outside of the cape is made in a wool fabric that I purchased from Hancock fabrics. I chose it because it is really soft and not itchy. I lined the inside in this rich, wine colored fabric that I also purchased from Hancock.
The cape is really fun to wear, but it doesn’t provide much warmth. Since we’re headed into the colder months I will probably have to save this until next fall. I had fun making this cape and I recommend the pattern to others!
Darling cape! Great choice of fabric and colorful lining. It has a very flattering fit.

Lovely work. I have cape I made last winter from this pattern. I’ve had so many great comments from people asking me where I bought it. Clearly we’re on trend!
