The garden party dress

Since I’m not really a denim girl, and have limited access to the sewing room this month I was going to sit this one out. Then, the pink bonus challenge was announce, my sewing room became free and I a had a few uninterrupted hours to sew. To say I was excited was an understatement.

This is my first make for 2015. A by hand London kim dress in a gorgeous vintage style floral poplin in pink of course.

This is my first Kim, and I’m rather taken by the sweetness of the neckline and gathered skirt, it’s a combination that has a spot in my wardrobe.

The fabric, is a cotton poplin from spotlight, it was a bit of an impulse buy, and I wasn’t sure what I’d make with it initially. The print teamed with the Kim dress makes me think of a sunny vintage style garden party, and pink lemonade.

The only alterations made where grading the princess seams up a size at the bust which is a nice change, since normally the list is half a page long. I also didn’t include the pin tucks on the skirt.

Will I make it again?
You bet. I love the girly, vintage vibe of the pattern, I have ideas running around my head for another 2 already.

  1. Oh that’s just beautiful! Love it!! 🙂 Great pairing of the fabric with the pattern, they go together so well. 🙂 (Also, good idea to leave off the pintucks – they would have been totally lost in the print!)
