OK- I know what you are thinking – where are the birds?
But wait – here they are hiding in my pockets!
I didn’t really expect to be taking part in this challenge. I don’t do a lot of prints and I really don’t do prints featuring animals or birds. But when I was making my first Chardon skirt I decided to go crazy and make the pockets. I can usually take or leave pockets – I am always very cautious about adding extra bulk at hip level and I would never actually put anything in a pocket, so I am always a bit surprised when people complain about lack of pockets and make complicated changes to patterns to include pockets.
But after deciding to add the pockets I found a bit of leftover cotton from my final summer dress of 2014 (summer pretty much ended right after I made and wore this dress) and decided to use it for the pockets and facing on my grey Chardon skirt.
Part way through the process of making the skirt I realised that I would actually be in time to include this in the April challenge – result! Despite good intentions after my first post on the Monthly Stitch last year I have not managed to get it together to post again – not even during the Solid Colours challenge in February which should have definitely been my moment!
So if you would like to read more about my Chardon skirts then check out my post here – hopefully I will manage to post here again before another six months has passed!
