I started this month with this UFO pile that I wanted to have a go at tackling.
For those who can’t immediately interpret this fabric pile, I’ll clarify. The teal scraps are pieces of an Sew Over It, Ultimate shift dress that I cut out and abandoned back in October/November last year. The green dress is a Sew Over It, .Cowl dress (there’s starting to be a bit of theme here) that I sewed up and discovered something had gone very wrong with, longer ago than I can remember. The African wax print is a hacked By Hand London, Flora dress that I started to make for a wedding last summer and threw in a corner in a huff when it didn’t work out.
So how did I get on? The Ultimate shift dress pieces became this:
The Flora dress was not salvageable, so I’ve treated it as a muslin and taken copious notes about adjustments I need to made for next time. I’m hoping I have enough of the original fabric left to squeeze another dress out. The zip has already been recycled into another dress.
Despite the extra day we’ve had this month, I still haven’t managed to finish the cowl dress but it is on its way and I’m confident it will become an FO soon. So I’m taking UFO month as a win, thanks Monthly Stitch for challenging me to tackle my UFOs.
More details can be found on my blog.
Nice work! So satisfying isn’t it?!
