Chill Out Capsule inspiration

As part of Indie Pattern Month this year, we thought we’d try something a bit different! We got together with some fantastic indie pattern designers to create pattern bundles – giving you the option to get some great discounts on fabulous designs!

The Chill Out Capsule pattern bundle is on sale now until 24:00 UTC Wednesday 8 June. If you’re looking for inspiration or reviews of the patterns included, read on!

Liana stretch jeans by Itch to Stitch

When thinking of weekend wear, jeans almost always spring to mind! The Liana stretch jeans are a mid-rise style with three different leg options – skinny leg, straight leg or bootcut.

Curious what they look like made up, or what fabric you could use? Here’s some inspiration! The main image is the skinny leg Liana jeans by Gray All Day. The red corduroy pair is by My Little Sewing Dreams. For fabric, you could try a classic dark denim, or even a pinstripe denim (both from Minerva Crafts).

Sophie cardigan by Muse Patterns

The Sophie cardigan is another perfect weekend staple. A semi-fitted cut with raglan sleeves that sits at the high hip, it’s perfect for matching with everything from jeans to dresses. Sophie is a super versatile pattern – there are options for round neck, vee neck, collared, zip up, button up, and two pocket styles!

Want some ideas for making up the Sophie? The floral Sophie (middle image) is by Silly Billy Sewing. The striped version of Sophie is by Straight Stitch Designs. And for fabric, you could make similar styles using this burgundy striped ponte roma, or a Spanish floral print ponte roma.

Hunter tank by Jennifer Lauren Handmade

The Hunter tank by Jennifer Lauren Handmade is a brand-new pattern, released less than a month ago. A bias-cut tank top for woven fabrics, with a 1950’s-60’s vintage vibe, the Hunter tank is designed to skim your curves and ties in a knot at the natural waist. Perfect for wearing with circle skirts and high-waisted jeans!

For inspiration and reviews, the navy Hunter tank is by Le fil a coudre d’Anna, and the strawberry print Hunter is by Ragbags and Gladrags. For fabric, you could try making the Hunter up in a gorgeous floral Liberty print lawn (top corner), or a soft and drapey viscose challis (bottom corner).

Olivia wrap dress by Named Clothing

There’s nothing quite like a knit wrap dress – they’re a staple in many wardrobes for some very good reasons! Comfy and easy to wear (secret pajamas!), while also appearing effortlessly put-together, they’re always in style. The Olivia wrap dress by Named is a classic knit wrap dress with a tulip skirt and in-seam side pockets.

The gorgeous red spotted Zeena is by Ooobop! and the blue floral one is by Diary of a Chainstitcher. For some fabric inspiration, you could make a Zeena in a graphic ikat print viscose, or in a bright and cheerful floral viscose.

Norah nightgown by GreenStyle Creations

It would be hard to put together a weekend wardrobe bundle without including nightwear! The Norah nightgown is a cute three piece set designed for knit fabrics. As well as a nightgown with different front options, there are also two styles of knickers/panties/whatever your country calls them – boyleg shorts and thong style.

  1. I’ve already bought it and am halfway through the Olivia Wrap dress, though I cut the skirt pieces out with the wrong side facing up so have had to reverse the tie instructions since my fabric is a single knit. I didn’t have enough fabric to cut them out again so am making do.
