We have so many new sponsors this year for Indie Pattern Month and adding to that growing list is Greenstyle Creations. Greenstyle specialise in knit patterns with lots of comfortable easy wear dresses and some great athletic wear.
Mel caught up with Angie, the designer behind Greenstyle Creations, to find out more…
Hi Angie! Welcome to Indie Pattern Month!
First up, tell us all a bit about your designs. How would you describe your style/aesthetic?
We have up-to-date comfortable and stylish designs for the whole family with a majority of our designs using knit fabrics.
How did your come up with the name for your label?
I started Greenstyle making re-usable fabric shopping totes and upcycled clothes back in 2007 and 2008.
We’d love to know the story behind your business. What inspired you to create and sell patterns? How did it all start?
We noticed a lack in tween and women’s PDF Sewing patterns for knits. I had been making patterns for my daughter and myself for several years and realized there was a good market for my designs so we starting developing the patterns for the general market.
Looking forwards, where would you like your business to be in five years time?
We want to continue to expand our full line with beautiful brilliant patterns. We would also like to focus on expanding our men’s line more with innovative designs.
Where do you do all your work?
I have a very messy office where I draft the patterns and my sewing space is an entire room upstairs in my house. It is the last door down a hallway and it is kinda my little sanctuary away from the world.
What’s your favourite part of releasing a new design?
The launch day is amazing… I am tired from the testing phase coming into launch day but the excitement and buzz makes it a very fun day.
Thinking of your gorgeous designs, what’s your favourite of all your designs so far, and why?
It is really hard to pick a favorite and they change as I move into a new designs but right now I am very proud of my Sundance Jacket and my 2 athletic tights patterns.
Who or what inspires you with your designs?
I adore Stella McCartney’s style and attention to environmentally friendly materials and processes. She does athletic clothes with style and beauty.
Do you have any new patterns coming out soon?
I am currently working on three patterns. A running skirt, a kids to twee jogger pant, and an amazing sports bra with shaped cups and a front closure.
