Announcing the July Challenge

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by the vote results and as Ciara commented on the voting post, no matter what we voted for, she could make the same garment. We asked which of the following: Smarty Pants, Denim Never Dies or Sew Hot Right Now. Let me guess, Closet Case Ginger Jeans, Megan Neilson Ash Jeans? Those patterns both fit all three.

Well to put you out of your misery are the results from the Vote, a close one between Sew Hot and Smarty Pants

I reckon we can now add quite a few more patterns to the mix! I tried to make some Sewaholic Thurlows some time ago and never got past the muslin stage, I got so confused with what needed adjusting. The Ginger Jeans are definitely on my hit list, I’ve also got some Style Arc trouser/pant patterns in my stash to try out. Of course, I’ve made lots of pairs of pants for husband, who has a liking for LOUD golf trousers! 🙂 You certainly don’t need to be selfish in your sewing.

If you’re looking for inspiration, Smarty Pants has been the challenge a couple of times before, February 2014 and November 2017.

Let’s see your pants, trousers, shorts, leggings, ski pants, etc…

  1. Is there somewhere that explains how the challenge works or what the rules are. I started following last year but would not be able to participate if I wanted to because none of the challenge announcements have explained what is required, nor have they contained a link to an explanation.

    • Hi Karey, there’s a link at the top of every page to Tutorials, Guidelines and Info. We’re pretty relaxed for most challenges. So for this one, I’d make something which fits the description and write a post giving us some photos, and a few details about the pattern and why you chose it. If you want to link to a more in depth post you may have written feel free to add that. If you don’t have a blog, then we like to know if you liked the pattern, what changes you made, etc. For this challenge you can use any pattern company you like. For Indie Pattern Month (August this year), we like posters to only make items from Indie Pattern companies.

      Hopefully this helps?
