Today’s sponsor is another new one to Indie Pattern Month! Sewalicious opened their online shop last year, and they have so many fun offerings, including in-person classes and online tutorials. Kyla caught up with Nicki to learn more!
First up, tell us a bit about the shop. How and when did it start, where are you based, what kinds of products/services do you offer?
Our online sewing boutique went live last year, 5th August 2017 but we had spent about five months prior to that setting up the business. We sell dressmaking fabric, patterns, haberdashery, sewing related gifts/jewerelly and starter kits. We also teach dressmaking classes in Twickenham where we are based. We also design patterns that are available on our site for free downloads.
What is your role at Sewalicious? What is your favorite part of working for the shop?
Amy and myself (Nicki) are both CoFounders of Sewalicious and we set the business up together. Our favorite part of the job is fabric buying…we LOVE it!
What’s your favorite item (or items!) in your stock at the moment?
Absolutely loving some of the sweatshirt fabric we have in at the moment. So cosy and warm and perfect for Autumn. Have attached a couple of fabric photos. One is our Hummingbird French Terry and the second one is our Black & Grey Animal Print Sweatshirt Fabric.
Are there any exciting new items that just arrived or are coming soon to the shop that you’d like to share with us?
Oooohh we have just introduced more sewing themed jewellery which is designed exclusively by Jazzy Menagerie for Sewalicious…have attached a couple of photos of them. They are very cute!
Do you sew or knit or craft yourself? What do you enjoy making the most? Any recent projects you’d care to share with us?
We both sew ourselves and sew a lot of our own clothes. We have attached two of our recent makes. Amy is wearing a Nina Lee Carnaby Dress made up in our linen fabric and I (Nicki) am wearing my latest make which is a Vogue V9136 coat made up in our wool blend fabric. Sewing dresses & jumpsuits are definitely my fave garment to sew.
Thanks so much for chatting with us, Nicki! And those hummingbirds! Oh my goodness, so much fun! It’s easy to get caught up in the online sewing community, but it’s great to see when shops have in-person classes, too!
One lucky winner this week will receive a £25 gift voucher to the Sewalicious boutique!
