Alex Meet Alex

My final entry to indie pattern month 2018. A huge thank you to the organisers of this page and this special month. It really helps me to focus with the titles set.

The first week was based on dresses and knowing this final week was about two versions of the same pattern i had a look through my stash for inspiration. I decided on the Alex dress from Sew over it knowing that it was on my list for the Shirt version and having bought some floral fabric ready for that. I popped to Fabricland and picked up this blue and green cotton for the dress version. Click here for more details on the dress version.

So here is my shirt version in pale blue floral fabric from My sewing box in Bournemouth.

Excuse the creases, I only managed to get photos after wearing it all day!!

This is a lovely pattern and very quick to sew up. I managed to sew most of it within 2 hours and just had the collar and buttons to finish later that day.

The finish is really tidy inside and out, the yoke hides all the seams with an easier technique different to the burrito method.

I also cheated on the sleeve tabs as I loathe turning straps and tabs inside out. I just ironed the seam allowance in and topstitched around the edges.

I finished it with poppers in the end to avoid sewing 8 button holes!! The shirt fits without having to unbutton anyway and I happened to have a perfect colour match in my prym love poppers.

The shirt has a lovely pleat at the back which makes it comfortable to wear and offers good movement at the shoulders.

Thanks once again for all the inspiration on this site….until next indie pattern month 😊
