One more finish for someone else! And one that I’m really happy to have finished and gifted too!
I started the Seeing stars quilt-along in August but with the summer holidays I very quickly lost the pace and fell behind. The schedule for the quilt-along was to have the quilt top finished by mid October. Despite a big push just a few days before the deadline, I missed it! But I finished all the blocks in October and parked my pieces away for a little while.
My goal for this quilt was to finish it before the end of the year and to gift it to a special lady as a birthday present. I finally digged out the pieces earlier this month to quilt them. And of course, what better idea when you’re short of time to pick a different quilting pattern for each star?
I used a quilt as you go technique for this one so once all 4 pieces were quilted, I still needed to piece them together and add the backing fabric to have one final piece.
And finally after that came the binding, meters to sew by hand for a neat finish.
I was very pleased to finish it a few days before Christmas just in time to give it away to someone who was really pleased to receive it 😊. I only finished 2 quilts this year and I’m really glad this one never made it to my UFO pile!
