Sara – Gladys and Viv

I learned the basics of sewing from my mom when I was little, but never really sewed much, nor produced anything wearable. As an adult, I started sewing in 2007 when I realized that I had nothing “nice” to wear for an upcoming event, and was unlikely to find anything in a shop that would work for me. So I thought, “oh, I’ll just make something,” and it worked, and then sewing became a hobby and stuck.
I love old things, and sew mostly from vintage patterns, using vintage or thrifted supplies. And I really like warm weather, so a lot of my sewing projects are sundresses, though I’m trying to be more practical for the rainy Portland climate. I’m hoping TMS will help me be more organized with my sewing, and I’m excited to be a part of the collective!
