Frocktober

Frocktober is almost over and I still haven’t posted the frock I finished the 3rd of October… Probably because the frock is way to fancy to wear anywhere I might go…

The pattern I used is Very Easy Vogue V8630. Aside from the fact that they make you sew 10 darts, this pattern actually comes together pretty easy. I omitted the collar because 1/ I didn’t think the collar would work well with this fabric and 2/ I barely had enough fabric as is…

More pics and the full story on my blog.

    • Thanks! The fabric was actually reversible and I was doubting between the golden-brown and blue-green for the skirt, but I’m really glad I went for the brown, it gives it extra elegance. I wanted to wear it to a dinner party when my parents were visiting and I told them to bring fancy clothes, but my mom showed up in linen pants and a knit top… I would have been way to much discoördinated so I let it sit in my closet 😦 and I’m still waiting for an occasion to wear it to…

    • Is this rock-show appropriate or should I get tickets to the ballet? Love both but have only planned the first… Should make plans to go to fancy venues more!

        • I don’t know what spats are, but I think my son and husband won’t agree to dressing up for an Arctic Monkeys concert. I think they will rather be dressing down…

          • Have you ever watched the mystery series about Hercule Pioret? He’s a well-known character who wears spats. They are (frequently) white snap-on fitted canvas coverings that go over the shoe lace portion of men’s shoes. Best way I could describe them… And no, your son & husband probably wouldn’t enjoy wearing them! They were considered veddy fancy dress for men at one time.

Do have fun & wear your pretty frock!

    • Not really a big story but thanks for stopping over! I don’t know what happened to the pictures because I wasn’t planning on turning them black and white, but I quite liked the effect…

  2. Its lovely, i always feel like i have no place to wear some of my nice dresses, but I do find it nice when I have an event to know there is something in my closet already to go instead of trying to quickly sew something. You could just wear it for you anytime, anywhere.

    • Thanks! I think more people should wear pretty clothes on a daily base, that would give me an excuse to wear my pretty dresses… Guess I’ll have to look forward to the holiday season and wedding season next year, but who am I kidding, I will make new dresses for the upcoming weddings 😉
