Hullo!
I am very excited to be writing my very first post for The Monthly Stitch, and to be entering my first contest. I have been watching the beautiful entries all month and have been endlessly inspired. Thank you so much! Here is my entry for New to You week of the Indie Pattern Month. It is from a relatively new pattern company; Maison Fleur Patterns. I had been looking at vintage tie shoulder sundress patterns, and saying to myself “Now Sweetie, you really don’t need ANOTHER dress,” when Voila! I came across this beauty.

Yes, this is a contemporary indie pattern. I am in love with the retro inspiration and cover art.
I had some difficulty printing the pdf, but I emailed Fleur, and she promptly emailed me back. I needed to open it on a computer with Adobe Photoshop. As soon as I opened it in Adobe I was good to go. I loved the feature that you only need to print the size you want. Fleur is very nice, and I really appreciated her taking the time to give me personal attention. I also told her I was going to enter her pattern, and she kindly allowed me to feature the pattern cover. She is looking forward to meeting you all.
The pattern sewed up beautifully! I printed a size ten. It fits loosely, which is great for a summer top, so I didn’t alter it down, but for a more fitted look I will make the size eight. The sizing is a little unique, as I wear an RTW 6-8. You can see it fits a tad loose on Colette, my friendly mannequin.
I can’t wait to make every view. It is a quick sew. I made it from a cotton blend I picked up at my favorite fabric remnant store, and lined it in a matching cotton blend. The pattern calls for facings, but I chose to do a solid colored, full lining instead, since the fabric was sheer enough that the facing would have shown through. It has a side zip, which could be omitted if sewn in a fabric with stretch.
Shall I model it for you all? Okay, if you insist. 🙂
Such a happy, fun, summer top to sew, and a fabulous pattern!

Thanks for introducing a new company to me. I really like the silhouete of the top and it looks really good in your polka dots fabric. I’m not big on the ties, I might substitute a bow that lays flat over the shoulder, hmm.
